Danmarks Farmaceutiske Selskab blev stiftet den 23. oktober 1912. De første vedtægter blev revideret 1931 og mindre rettelser blev vedtaget i 1936 og 1956. Der er foretaget revisioner af vedtægerne i 1962, 1972, 1985 og 1988. En oversigt over Selskabets historie med yderligere henvisninger findes i Dansk Tidsskrift for Farmaci 36, 1962, nr. 10-11 og i jubilæumsskriftet “Danmarks Farmaceutiske Selskab 1912-1987”, forfattet af Hans-Otto Loldrup.

Vedtægterne blev igen i oktober 1992 opdateret omkring afklaring af bestemmelserne for optagelse i Selskabet samt mindre sproglige justeringer.

Med vedtægtsændringerne af 1. januar 2003 fik sektionerne direkte indflydelse på Selskabets ledelse. Ved opdateringerne fra 26. Juni 2009 blev vedtægterne mere tidssvarende i forhold til udviklingen indenfor det farmaceutiske område (uddannelse, industri etc.). Således er der bl.a. åbnet op for, at andre akademikere end farmaceuter, hvis uddannelse eller arbejde retter sig mod farmaci eller anden farmaceutisk videnskab, kan optages i selskabet.
